Artist's Description

After canoeing the entire Mississippi River from it's source in Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico in Louisiana, I often envisioned myself as a sort of modern day Huck Finn.

About Bennie Giles

Bennie Giles

What can I say about myself? I currently reside in Oak Grove, KY. I'm a bit of gypsy. I've lived in many places and I have traveled all over the world. I was born and raised in West Texas near Canyon and Amarillo. I grew up on a ranch. After high school I joined the Marine Corps and served with them for 4 years and then switched over to the Army and served with them for almost 8 years. I'm a disabled veteran and I've been struggling to find something that excites me as much as the military did. I believe I've found that through painting. I haven't had any formal training in the arts but I've always loved it. I'm hoping that my art sparks interest and emotions in people. Through art the world becomes a more beautiful place to live.
